Job Description

  • Develop, implement, and oversee animal nutrition plans specifically tailored for ruminants, ensuring formulations meet nutritional requirements for all life stages.
  • Conduct rigorous research on feed ingredients and their impact on ruminant digestion, metabolic health, and milk/meat production efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, farm managers, and feed technologists to monitor livestock health and adjust feeding protocols accordingly.
  • Lead trials and experiments at the Dairy Research Farm to evaluate new feed additives, supplements, and feeding techniques to improve sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide training and guidance to farm staff on best practices regarding feed handling, feeding schedules, and animal welfare standards.
  • Analyze nutrition data and generate comprehensive reports to inform management decisions and support continuous improvement processes.
  • Stay abreast of global trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in ruminant nutrition and feed formulation, integrating relevant insights into operational practices.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects that drive innovation in feed technology and support the company’s mission of sustainable livestock farming.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Experience in dairy farming or milking parlor operations will be an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of dairy cow milking procedures, milk hygiene, and mastitis prevention.
  • Ability to operate, clean, and maintain milking machines and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare principles and basic dairy farm management.
  • Hardworking, responsible, and able to work in shifts or according to farm schedules.
  • Able to work outdoors and in a farm environment.
  • Good observation skills to identify abnormalities in dairy cows and report issues accurately.
  • Able to work well as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Training or certification in dairy milking operations, GMP, GHP, or dairy farm standards will be an advantage.
